Prilled

Small, round prills

Made by spraying molten urea down a tower. Economical and widely used for direct application and blending.

Granular

Larger, harder granules

Made in a fluid bed granulator. Stronger and more uniform, suited to bulk blending and mechanical spreading.

Typical Specifications

Indicative commercial values for fertiliser grade urea. The final specification is agreed in the contract and confirmed by the independent inspector's report.

Values are indicative only and depend on the producer. Granular urea is often treated with a conditioning agent to prevent caking. Cargo quality is established by independent sampling and laboratory analysis at the load port.

Why Urea

The highest nitrogen content of any solid fertiliser, at a low cost per unit of nitrogen.

46% Nitrogen

More plant nutrient per tonne, which lowers freight, handling and spreading costs.

Many Crops

Used on cereals, rice, maize, sugar cane, vegetables, fruit and pasture.

Flexible Use

Applied dry, dissolved in water, or blended with other fertilisers.

Inspected Cargo

Quality and quantity verified by an independent inspector at loading and discharge.

Applications

Mostly used as fertiliser, with smaller industrial uses.

Agriculture

Direct application and blending into NPK fertilisers.

Resins

Urea-formaldehyde resins for wood panels and adhesives.

Animal Feed

Nitrogen supplement for ruminant feed, using feed grade product.

Industry

Melamine, diesel exhaust fluid and other chemical production.

Commercial Terms

  • Supply: bulk cargoes by dry bulk vessel, or packed in 50 kg bags and 1,000 kg big bags
  • Payment: as agreed in the contract
  • Inspection: independent inspector, sampling and analysis at load and discharge
  • Documents: ICPO, SCO, CI, PPOP
  • Storage: keep dry, because urea absorbs moisture from the air

Delivery Terms

Loading at export terminals worldwide. Delivery to discharge ports as agreed.
