Cooling gas to a liquid makes it practical to move it across oceans where pipelines cannot reach.
Liquefaction
Treated natural gas is cooled to -162°C at the export plant and stored in insulated tanks.
Shipping
Specialised LNG carriers move cargoes in insulated tanks, typically 140,000 to 175,000 m³ per vessel.
Regasification
At the import terminal the LNG is warmed back to gas and fed into the pipeline network or power plants.
Gas Quality
Quality parameters of the regasified natural gas, based on GOST 5542-87. The final specification is agreed in the contract and confirmed by the independent inspector's report.
Values are typical and not a guarantee. Water and hydrocarbon dew points are set by climate zone and contract. LNG cargo quality is established by independent inspection at loading.
